Folksy Friday - Home Sweet Home!

This seems to be the time of year for moving - lots of my friends are moving house, moving jobs, moving on...I can't wait to have a little house of my own to fill with lots of pretty things and have enough space to make a mess and still be able to get into bed, ha! So this week's Folksy Friday is a Home Sweet Home theme - lots of things to celebrate moving and to make a new home yours!

A Very British Weekend!

Hey there! I hope you all had a good weekend doing everything you fancied! I think my Folksy Friday Summer Brights post worked, for one day at least - we had a beautifully sunny Saturday which necessitated some bicycle-related tweaking and purchasing!

I got a wicker basket! It's so twee, I love it - it clips on and comes off really easily, and it has a handle so I can take it off when I get to work...ridiculous, really, but very fun!


Whilst buying the basket, we found an enormous section of the shop dedicated to (very attractive...) high-visibility-wear. Hidden underneath was a basket full of high-vis clip-on creatures - genius! Of course I had to get a moose! He now lives on my basket and will be my companion throughout my cycling escapades!


I realised I never shared the bell my sister got me for my birthday - it matches it perfectly!


Then Sunday was typically miserable again so we had a very domesticated day baking bread and making scones...



...and then eating them with copious amounts of cream and jam! Mmm!

Sounds of Saturday - Hurts

Hellooo there! I hope you're having a lovely Saturday! I hope to make it even lovelier with some dour northern electronic-pop...ha! I'm jumping on the bandwagon slightly with Hurts since they were on Radio 1 a couple of weekends ago, but I like them more and more the more I investigate so I thought I'd share them with you!













I also like that the lead singer looks a bit like Sheldon from The Big Bang Theory towards the end of this video - immaculately-dressed, though, naturally.




I couldn't just pick a couple - every single song I've heard I wanted to include...I love it when that happens, when you're kind of hungry for more! They remind me of my synth-goth teenage years...oh yes, I was that cool.

They're playing here in Leeds in October...I think I shall be there!

Folksy Friday - Summer Brights!

Grr who else is fed up this awful cold weather? I certainly am! I've gotten caught in a downpour two days in a row...it's June, it's supposed to be lovely! It's making me feel like this:

Creative Monday - More Father's Day Cards!

Hello! What did you get up to over the weekend? We enjoyed the sun on Saturday with a picnic and ice creams and a bit of frisbeeing in the park, and escaped the rain on Sunday by having a bit of a gym session at Oliver's base on Sunday! It made me feel very virtuous and as if I definitely deserved the ridiculously good toffee-mousse cake I scoffed at tea time...definitely!



And then after one of THOSE Mondays that was frankly rubbish, I put my frustration into a bit of creativity, and came up with a few more Father's Day card designs - let me know what you think!





I've started altering my photos slightly to make them a bit brighter - what do you think?

Sounds of Saturday!

Hello! After discovering a lot of great music via other bloggers, I've been thinking of doing a regular music-based post for a while. People who know me well will have a bit of a giggle at this, as I have notoriously...erm...eclectic (!) taste in music, and will pretty much listen to anything, BUT I have music on all the time, wherever I am, wherever possible, as loudly as possible (especially when crafting!), and music is certainly a way of expressing creativity, so I think it fits okay with Wrapped Up With String! I hope you think so too!

Now I know most bloggers have Music Mondays, but I can never listen to people's choices on a Monday as I'm generally reading blogs on my lunch hour in an office, so I'm going to host Sounds of Saturday instead - that way everyone can fully enjoy my random selections! The alliteration also cleverly works for both days of the weekend in case Saturday doesn't work out - like it? Ha!

So to begin I've chosen Florence...ahhh lovely Florence! I know you'll almost certainly have heard of her, but I love her, and her newest song just blasted out of the radio (the poor little kitchen radio does get some abuse when I'm cooking...!) and inspired me to finally begin this feature, so I thought she'd be the best choice to begin with! She's also beautiful, funny, creative, lovely, incredibly talented...and she has fantastic hair (shallow? me?)!
