Hiya! We've been having some pretty exciting weather in UK (or we were before I left!), and we Brits love nothing more than a good old chin-wag about hailstones in August and the like, so what better inspiration for a Folksy Friday feature? New Cards and Crochet!

Hellooo! I mentioned last week that I'll be having a stall at an upcoming clothes swish, so I thought I'd better get making some new stock to fill it up with! The good thing about selling on a stall is being able to create pieces from bits and bobs that I don't have many of; ones I've collected from various craft fairs and charity shops in small quantities, like these pressed flowers I got in a sale!





Also featured - a spare bit of shiny paper from a Roses chocolate! Reduce, reuse, recycle!

I also managed to learn how to crochet a couple of new shapes for my crochet garland, which is looking like this so far (I even stitched in my ends for you this time, aren't I getting good? ha!):




I love the tiny heart and the butterfly, although I think I might make another butterfly in just one colour for this particular garland, and use this little chap for a different project - what do you think? I really like the muted colours I've used for the garland, so I'll make him in just plain green to blend in!

Rose and Raven Giveaway Spoils!

Hiya! I hope you all had a lovely weekend - what did you get up to? I had some exciting news at the end of last week...Rachel of Rose and Raven emailed me to let me know I'd won her beautiful Bird on a Perch necklace, and it arrived on Thursday, just in time to be packed!




What actually happened was that I got a phone call at work from my sister telling me I had a package and that she absolutely MUST open it before she burst from anticipation (this happens a lot in my house)...and then another very excited message to say 'It's a little bird necklace! It's beautiful! Can I have it?!' - she's 22! No, was my resolute answer - I love it! To save you from my amateur photography, here's the necklace in it's true glory:

Sounds of Sunday - Glee!

Okay, it's no secret that I adore Glee - I think it is hilarious, dark, highly addictive...just a joy to watch in general, really(!), and since the season finale I've been longing for my weekly fix of show tunes and amusing covers! Naturally I couldn't keep this to myself, so today's Sound of Sunday post is completely Gleeked out!

Folksy Friday - Holidays!

Hellooo there! Hopefully (if it works right!) by the time this posts, I should be leaving on a jet plane on the way to Malta! Of course, I had to dedicate today's Folksy Friday to holidays...check out these lovelies!

Crafty Weekend Activities!

Hello! I hope you had chance to enjoy some sunshine over the weekend! We spent Saturday getting some holiday essentials (more on that soon!) and then I enjoyed the lovely weather again on Sunday afternoon whilst visiting one of my friends' voluntary projects, Herbs and Dragonflies, a local (to me!) community group who aim to get more children interested in gardening and wildlife.


They do loads of really fun activities that encourage children and their parents to get involved with the environment, and I love it because I get to join in too, hurrah! On Sunday we were decorating tote bags at a local allotment site to encourage people to take reusable bags to the shops with them. I kept mine simple, but (I like to think...!) effective, ha!


My artistic skills were stretched, as you can see! It was a great idea (especially as Kathy got some green bags when she found out I was coming!) and it's definitely going in my handbag to minimise the frequency of those 'argh!' moments when I realise I've forgotten a shopping bag! Another event I'm getting involved in soon is the Farsley Clothes Swish on the 30th July. As well as the clothes swapping, there will be lots of lovely craft stalls...including my debut - I'm very excited! I've been making lots of new cards for my stall (I'll show you them soon!), using up the bits and bobs I don't have many of - one of the benefits of a stall as opposed to an online shop, I guess! - and thinking about how to present it all. I wanted to decorate my stall with something representative of Wrapped Up With String so I've begun a crocheted garland - what do you think?


It's only little so far, but I'm going to crochet lots more tiny shapes (including hearts if I can ever get the hang of them!) and hang them along some parcel string to decorate the front of my table...fingers crossed I'll have it done in time!

Sounds of Saturday: Björk!

An oldie but a goodie...I've always always loved Björk - my dad has been a fan since I can remember (he almost met her at the Melbourne Olympic Games...I think that pretty much made his year!) and her music has been around our house forever! I love that she's utterly herself, completely original, pretty barmy and entirely hypnotising to watch - so here you go!




















...it took SO long to finish this post because I could literally spend hours looking at photos of her!
